Black Walnut

Black Walnut

A premium hardwood prized for its rich colour, character, and design appeal

Black Walnut Hardwood Timber

Black Walnut is a tough, hard hardwood of medium density, offering a unique combination of strength and workability. It has moderate bending and crushing strength, lower stiffness, and a good steam bending classification, making it suitable for a wide range of interior applications.

One of Black Walnut’s most distinctive features is its striking colour contrast. The sapwood is typically creamy white, while the heartwood ranges from light brown to deep chocolate brown. In some boards, the heartwood may also display dark or even purple-toned streaks, adding to its visual appeal.

Walnut is generally straight-grained, though wavy or curly grain patterns can occur. These natural variations create the highly attractive figure that designers and furniture makers seek when creating statement pieces and premium interiors.

Typical Uses
