American Red Oak

American Red Oak

A durable, versatile hardwood widely used for furniture, flooring, and interior joinery

American Red Oak Hardwood Timber

American Red Oak (Quercus rubra spp.) is one of the most widely used and abundant hardwoods in the eastern United States. Known for its distinctive ring-porous grain pattern, Red Oak is heavy, hard, and stiff, making it a reliable choice for a wide range of interior applications.

The heartwood of Red Oak ranges in colour from wheat tones to light honey shades, while the sapwood is a light off-white. Its bold grain structure and consistent appearance make it a popular choice where character and strength are equally important.

Red Oak is highly prized in the manufacture of furniture, cabinetry, and interior decorative items. It is especially well suited to flooring, stairs, mouldings, and panelling, where durability and visual appeal are key requirements.

Supplied as standard in rough sawn boards, American Red Oak can also be surfaced (S2S) upon request. It is also available as SLR2E for customers requiring eased and straightened edges.

Typical Uses

Furniture, interior decoration, flooring, stairs, millwork, panelling, doors, household goods, and woodenware.
